THE RETURN

The Return is a 2024 drama film directed by Uberto Pasolini and starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche. The film is a retelling of Homer‘s Odyssey as adapted by Edward BondJohn Collee and Pasolini.

It premiered in the Gala section at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2024, and will be theatrically released on December 6, 2024, in the United States by Bleecker Street.

Synopsis

Odysseus (Fiennes) washes up on the shores of his home island Ithaca after twenty years fighting in and returning from the Trojan War. Scarred by his experiences, he is unrecognisable from the mighty warrior king that left, 20 years before. His wife Penelope (Binoche) is now a prisoner in her own home, hounded by many suitors to choose a new husband that would take the throne. Odysseus and Penelope’s son Telemachus (Plummer) is facing death at the hands of those who see him as a threat to their ambitions. Odysseus is forced to face his past in order to save his family and win back that which he has lost.[1]

The Six Triple Eight is an upcoming American war drama film written and directed by Tyler Perry, on the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-black and all-female battalion, in World War II.

The Six Triple Eight is scheduled to be released in select cinemas on December 6, 2024, before its streaming debut by Netflix on December 20, 2024.

Premise

The film is based on the 2019 WWII History magazine article, “Fighting a Two-Front War”, by Kevin M. Hymel on the contributions of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an all-black and all-female battalion, in World War II.

UNSTOPPABLE

Unstoppable is a 2024 American biographical sports drama film directed by William Goldenberg in his feature directorial debut. Written by Eric Champnella, Alex Harris and John Hindman, it is based on the 2012 book of the same name by Anthony Robles (who also serves as producer) and Austin Murphy. It is produced by Ben Affleck through Artists Equity, and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas through Nuyorican Productions. It stars Jharrel Jerome as Robles,[2] with a supporting cast that includes Jennifer LopezBobby CannavaleMichael Peña, and Don Cheadle.[3][4]

Unstoppable had its premiere in the Special Presentations section at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024, followed by a limited theatrical release on December 6, 2024 by Amazon MGM Studios, and will release on Prime Video January 16, 2025.

THE ORDER

The Order is a 2024 Canadian historical crime thriller film directed by Justin Kurzel and written by Zach Baylin, based on the 1989 non-fiction book The Silent Brotherhood by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt. The film revolves around an FBI agent who goes after a white supremacist terrorist group known as the Order that was active in the United States in the 1980s. It stars Jude LawNicholas HoultTye SheridanJurnee SmollettAlison Oliver, and Marc Maron.

The Order premiered in competition at the 81st Venice International Film Festival in August 2024. It is set to be released on Prime Video in Canada. It will be released in the UK on December 27, 2024.

Premise

In 1983, an Idaho-based FBI agent spots a pattern in recent bank robberies, counterfeiting operations and armored car heists terrorizing communities across the Pacific Northwest. He sets out to prove it is not the work of a traditional organized crime unit, but a radical group led by charismatic leader Bob Mathews.[4]
